The track is back!
The dirt running track at Lower Woodland Park has finally re-opened for use.
Ted Holden of Seattle Parks told me they took the fences down yesterday.
Workers made the inside curb of the track a consistent two inches all the way around and did some grading to improve drainage, he added, "so we're not running in mud puddles anymore."
Here's hoping.
Seattle Parks will have a ribbon cutting ceremony for the renovated Lower Woodland Park fields, which now have new synthetic turf, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5.
Current Major League Soccer players and professional trainers will be there. The fields are also marked for lacrosse and Ultimate Frisbee.
